Culture + Benefits

A People-First Culture Where Ownership and Growth Go Hand in Hand

Behind ACRT’s reputation for quality and consistency is our people. As part of ACRT Services, we have a deep tradition of putting employees first — not as a tagline, but as the foundation of how we’ve operated for more than four decades. Our people-first philosophy has kept employees with us for 10, 20, even 30 years or more. It’s because they’ve found a company that treats them as owners, invests in their development, and gives them room to grow.

At ACRT, our foresters and arborists work independently in the field while being supported by managers who are out there with them — not behind a desk. You’ll be trusted to do your job, backed by real training, and part of a team that takes pride in the work it does for utilities and communities across the country.

What Makes ACRT Different

Employee ownership you can count on. ACRT has been 100% employee-owned since 2003 through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Available at no cost to eligible employees, the ESOP gives you a direct stake in ACRT’s success as a qualified retirement benefit. After one year of service, you receive company stock — meaning when ACRT grows, you benefit directly. It’s ownership that’s built into every career here, not something you have to earn separately.

Training that prepares you to succeed. From day one, you’ll receive comprehensive training — both classroom instruction and hands-on field experience — to ensure you’re fully prepared before working independently. We provide all necessary safety gear, ongoing professional development, and support for industry certifications to help you advance throughout your career. Assistance and training for International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certifications, including ISA Certified Arborist and ISA Utility Specialist, are available to all ACRT employees, with 100% reimbursement for successfully passing certification exams. Annual UAA memberships are also provided at no cost, giving you access to continuing education, networking, and professional development opportunities.

Safety that’s non-negotiable. Safety isn’t a box we check; it’s the foundation of our culture and the first thing on the agenda every day. Our ACRT SAFE program, dedicated Safety Department, and Area Safety Representatives ensure that safety stays front and center across every region and every project. From day one onboarding through ongoing monthly training and annual safety meetings, we make the commitment to protect our people concrete and consistent.

Work that fits who you are. If you love working outdoors and value independence, ACRT field roles offer both. Our foresters and arborists spend their days in the field, assessing vegetation, supporting utility programs, and making a direct impact on the reliability and safety of the communities they serve. You’ll have the autonomy to do your job well, backed by experienced managers who are out in the field alongside you.

Benefits that support your life. In addition to ESOP, full-time ACRT employees have access to a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, group life insurance, optional life insurance, short- and long-term disability, an employee assistance program, and a 401(k). Field employees receive a company vehicle and gas card for work-related and commuting purposes, plus annual allowances for work boots and prescription safety glasses.

Real requirements, honest expectations. ACRT field work isn’t for everyone, and we’re upfront about what it takes. Field roles require good physical condition and comfort working outdoors in varied weather and terrain. You’ll interact regularly with property owners, utility customers, and tree crews on behalf of our utility partners, so strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused demeanor are essential.

The work is demanding — but it’s also meaningful. For those who thrive outdoors, value independence, and want to build a long-term career with a company that takes their growth seriously, ACRT offers something most employers can’t: genuine ownership, real advancement, and a mission that matters.
